      Inverter supplier Sungrow has signed a contract to supply its fully integrated energy storage system to a 15-MW/32-MWh solar-plus-storage project in Massachusetts.       UMass Boston Will Install 1-MW solar/2-MWh Storage Project with EV Charging

      Enel X has signed an agreement with the University of Massachusetts Boston to install a 1-MW solar facility integrated with a 500-kW/2-MWh lithium-ion energy storage system, as well as 11 Enel X JuiceBox electric vehicle (EV) smart charging stations at the campus. The project is expected to be operational by the first half of 2020. Through the integration of the PV facility with the lithium-ion energy storage system, UMass will be able to generate and store renewable energy to be used when electricity costs are highest, thereby reducing the campus’s grid dependence and energy spending by more than $1.5 million.

      Arkansas Boots up 10-MW Solar, 24-MWh Storage Facility in Fayetteville

      The City of Fayetteville, Arkansas, is now home to one of the first large-scale solar-plus-storage systems in the mid-South, a joint project between the city, Ozarks Electric Cooperative, and Today’s Power Inc. The project consists of three solar arrays and two battery facilities sited near Fayetteville’s two water treatment facilities. With a capacity of 10 MW of solar and 24 MWh of energy storage, the installation will save the city approximately $180,000 per year.

      Plans to introduce battery-supported EV charging stations have moved a step closer thanks to funding through a competitive grant awarded by the State of Missouri, made possible by funds from the U.S. Department of Energy State Energy Program. The grant will fund a detailed plan for the set-up and construction of EV charging stations with advanced lead energy storage at the selected demonstration sites to help manage electricity demand fluctuations and store electricity when it is less costly.
