    Con Ed Creates Battery Farm in Ozone Park

    Tucked between a school and church in Ozone Park is Con Edison’s new pride and joy. Eight ordinary-looking shipping containers sit in the company's Battery Storage Station. A Con Edison official said that what's inside the containers is the future of the electric industry. The technology isn’t new but this is the first time Con Edison has created it’s own battery farm. The goal of the project to store electricity for use at a later date, like on hot summer days, when air conditioners can strain the power grid.
