EDF Renewable Energy Signs Power Purchase Agreement with a California Utility for 111 MWac Solar Project

SAN DIEGO--EDF Renewable Energy (EDF RE) announces the signing of a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement with Southern California Edison (SCE). The 111.2 megawatt alternating current (MWac) Valentine Solar Project will deliver clean electricity to SCE beginning in December 2019. Located on approximately 1,260 acres of private land in Kern County’s Mojave Desert, Valentine Solar is adjacent to EDF RE’s Catalina Solar 2 Project, which is also contracted with SCE. Valentine will be comprised of horizontal single-axis tracking solar photovoltaic (PV) technology generating power equivalent to avoiding more than 225,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually1. This is equivalent to the emissions of 48,000 passenger vehicles driven over the course of one year.
