    Former Kenora Resident Leads Company Marketing Innovative Energy Storage System

    Former Kenora resident Curtis Van Walleghem was in the news last month when his company Hydrostor ‘threw the switch’ to activate the world’s first underwater compressed air energy storage system in Toronto on Nov. 18.  The Beaver Brae Secondary School graduate and former Bronco hockey player is CEO of Hydrostor, which designed the system for Toronto Hydro to provides a ‘green solution’ to store electricity generated by wind and solar during off-peak hours and returning it to the grid when demand is high.
