    The Numbers Behind Tesla and SolarCity's Home Energy Storage Business in California

    IDC Energy Insights analyst Sam Jaffe reviewed Tesla and SolarCity’s applications with PG&E, and estimates that the two companies have applied for a combined 500kW of storage systems. Jaffe projects that the two companies’ applications add up to about 2MWh of storage capacity.  Jaffe estimates that Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas & Electric may be eyeing an additional 10MWh of home battery-solar backup systems in California in 2012.
